A wireless remote control is a device used to remotely control a machine. There are two common types on the market, one is the infrared remote control mode commonly used in home appliances, and the other is the radio remote control mode commonly used in anti-theft alarm equipment, door and window remote control, car remote control, etc. Infrared remote control is a remote control device that uses near-infrared rays with a wavelength between 0.76 and 1.5 μm to transmit control signals.

There are two types of encoding methods commonly used in radio remote control, namely fixed code and rolling code. Rolling code is an upgraded product of fixed code. Where there is a requirement for confidentiality, rolling coding is used. 

The principle of the wireless remote control is that the transmitter encodes the controlled electrical signal first, and then modulates, infrared modulation or wireless frequency modulation, amplitude modulation, and converts it into a wireless signal and sends it out. The receiver receives, amplifies, and decodes the radio waves carrying information to obtain the original control electrical signal, and then amplifies the power of this electrical signal to drive related electrical components to realize wireless remote control. 

Short-distance straight-line wireless remote controls generally use infrared remote control transmitting and receiving devices. The transmitting end encodes and transmits, and the receiving end decodes after receiving. Such as remote controls for TVs, air conditioners, etc., belong to this category. Long-distance wireless remote control generally adopts FM or AM transmission and reception technology, which is similar to the transmission and reception technology of walkie-talkie or mobile phone, but the frequency is different. 

As smart TVs mature day by day, traditional remote controls can no longer meet people’s needs for controlling smart TVs. Therefore, in order to meet the needs of different user groups, it is imminent to design a series of smart remote controllers. 

The smart remote control should have a simple, intuitive and user-friendly operation interface. Users can easily get started without complicated use and learning, and roam between the Internet and TV as they like. In addition, the smart remote is equipped with inertial sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope), which can realize gesture recognition, air mouse and somatosensory interaction functions. For gaming operations that require higher precision, magnetic sensors can be incorporated to provide absolute coordinates. It can be said that the smart remote control perfectly integrates the traditional TV remote control, computer mouse and keyboard.

In recent years, my country’s smart home shipments and market size have grown rapidly. According to IDC’s previous report data, China’s smart home market has shipped 156 million units, a year-on-year increase of 36.7%. In 2019, China’s smart home market shipments exceeded the 200 million mark, reaching 208 million units, an increase of 33.5% over 2018.

According to the IDC report, China’s smart home equipment market shipped approximately 51.12 million units in the third quarter of 2020, a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%.

In order to solve the problem of too many remote controls in the room, smart home manufacturers have developed a multi-functional remote control, which integrates the remote control functions of various household appliances into one controller and becomes a smart remote control. The remote control can control various electrical appliances in the home, such as lights, TV, air conditioner and so on. Therefore, the application market of intelligent wireless remote control is broad.
